And it came to pass that even though the 390th was maintaining the helicopters, the 48th was flying some of the oldest ships in Viet Nam.  So we received some new "H" models to replaced some "D" models.

Ninh Hoa c The Red Ball Express was the helicopter assigned to the 390th.  Part of the 390th maintenance success was the acquisition of parts, through normal channels and any other way possible.  Trading with other units was a popular way to get the parts we needed and the Red Ball Express made that process easier.  Previously, ships spent a lot of time in "Test Flight" mode to do the parts runs.
